KRA to destroy unclaimed sex toys, innerwear

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) is set to destroy unclaimed goods at five different warehouses across the country.

The Authority's Customs and Border Control department announced the exercise will take place on Monday, May 22.

The goods to be destroyed are stored at warehouses in Eldoret, Nakuru, Lodwar, Lokichoggio, and Suam.

Chief Manager in the Rift Valley region, John Gathatwa, stated that the goods shall be removed from the custody of the warehouses pursuant to the provision of Sections 42 and 248 of the Customs Management Act.

"Notice is given that unless the under-mentioned goods are entered and removed from the custody of the customs warehouse Keeper, Eldoret, Nakuru, Lodwar, Lokichoggio, and Suam within 30 days of this notice, they will be treated as abandoned and will be disposed of by destruction or otherwise disposed of in such manner as the Commissioner may direct on May 22, 2023.

According to a notice seen by The Standard, some of the goods to be destroyed include artificial male and male sex organs, sex toys, used inner garments, and alcohol.

Shisha apparatus and bottles of Tusker and Guinness also stored at some of the warehouses will be destroyed during the exercise.

Other goods are unclaimed military garments, motor vehicles, assorted medicine, body lotion, clothing, and sugar.
