Five Cabinet Secretaries to appear before Senate on Wednesday

Mungatana also wants Murkomen to provide a list of all roads in Tana River county that have been upgraded to bitumen standard and to explain why the county has been marginalised in the government's development plans and what steps are being taken to remedy the situation.

Tourism Cabinet Secretary Penina Malonza will respond to a question from Nominated Senator Veronica Maina who is seeking to know the number of cruise ships that have docked in the country since January 2022 and those scheduled to dock by June 2023.

Malonza will be expected to inform the House on the schedule of cruise ships that were scheduled to dock in Kenya between January 2022 and June 2023 but cancelled their voyage or changed their destination from Kenya giving the reasons for the cancellation or changes and steps taken to market Kenya as a cruise tourist destination.

Senator Maina further wants Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu to explain the reasons behind the detachment of Bandari college from the Kenya Ports Authority and the number of seafarers trained by the institution and deployed to the local and International markets.

Machogu is also expected to provide information on the sustainability and capacity of Bandari college to undertake the government's commitment to train 250 seafarers annually.

Tharaka Nithi Senator Mwenda Gataya will be seeking to have Lands Cabinet Secretary Zacharia Njeru explain the cause of delay in demarcation, adjudication and issuing of title deeds to residents of Ntoroni, Thiiti and Turima Division particularly parts of Ruung'u, Kibunga, Tombura, Mugwi, Tunya, Kathura and Kiragu in Tharaka Nithi county .

Gataya also wants Njeru to appraise him on plans put in place to facilitate residents of Machabeni-sub location who were evicted from their land in the 1996-1997 tribal clashes to safely return to their homes.

Laikipia Senator John Kinyua will be seeking answers from Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki on the state of security in Laikipia county and wider North Rift region and the criteria used in the identification of areas to conduct the ongoing security operation.

Kinyua further wants Prof Kindiki to state measures put in place to restore peace and provide information on the recruitment, deployment and renumeration of National Police Reservists in the region.

The Interior CS is also expected to give the status of the recovery of stolen livestock and arraignment of apprehended bandits in court since November 2022 and whether victims of banditry will be compensated.

The CS will also be required to respond to any supplementary questions raised by other senators in the House in the second week since the practice was established in the Senate.
