Outgoing UK envoy Jane Marriott distances herself from 2022 poll results

She admitted to meeting both coalitions to discuss policies that would favour both political factions after the elections.

Marriot also denied allegations that she colluded with former IEBC Chairperson Wafula Chebukati to interfere with the election results.

"I have never had that conversation with Chebukati and it's amazing people think of the number of conversations that I had," she said.

The High Commissioner further stated that the United Kingdom doesn't put conditions on the democracy of a country after providing monetary aid.

Marriott has been the UK Ambassador to Kenya since September 2019 and is set to transfer to another Diplomatic Service in July.

UK Ambassador to Israel, Patrick Neil Wigan has been appointed as the new replacement effective July 2023.
