President William Ruto makes new State appointments

President William Ruto on Friday continued to shape the leadership of parastatals in Kenya, appointing new members, replacing retired officers and revoking the contracts of officers hired by his predecessor, Uhuru Kenyatta.

Former Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Managing Director Brown Ondego has been appointed the chairperson of the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority for a period of three years.

Former West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo has been appointed the chairperson of the North Rift Valley Water Works Development Agency for three years, replacing Chumba Chemweno whose contract has been revoked.

Chemweno's term was to end in December 2023.

Former Kisauni Member of Parliament (MP) Ali Mbogo has also been appointed the chairperson of LAPSSET Development Authority Board for a period of three years.

Former Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip, Engineer Shadrack Tulon, Abdikahiya Maalim, Nasra Ibrahim and Jeremiah Lomari have been picked as members of the Lonyangapuo-led agency.

Francis Gichaba is the new chairperson of the Kenya Tourism Board, while Prof. Raphael Munuve takes over as the chairperson of the Konza Technopolis Development Authority for a period of three years.

Emilio Mugo has been appointed the chairperson of the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) for a period of three years.

Seasoned surgeon Prof. Stanley Khainga has been picked as the chairperson of the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council, while Dr. Rispa Wapkhulu takes over the leadership of the Kenya Literature Bureau (KLB) as the chairperson.

Former Lake Basin Development Authority chairperson Odoyo Owidi has been appointed the chairperson of the Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency for three months from March 10 to June 4, 2023.

At the same time, Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ezekiel Machogu has appointed Dr. Jane Kiringai the chairperson of the Council of the Meru University of Science and Technology for a period of three years.

The new Council members are Janet Ominde, Martin Kinoti, Jacob Kwaba, Lucy Ndonket and Sylvester Kinyor.

Transport Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kipchumba Murkomen, on the other hand, has appointed Muhumed Abdi Mohamed the chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Railways Corporation for a period of three years.
