The Public Service Commission has shortlisted 224 candidates for the post of Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS).

The shortlisting comes days after the court threw out a case filed by the Law Society of Kenya, challenging the creation of the CAS position.

Some of those shortlisted for the role are politicians, some of whom lost the August 2022 General Election.

Millicent Omanga (Nairobi Woman Representative candidate), Cleophas Malala (Kakamega governor candidate), Purity Ngirici (Kirinyaga governor candidate), Catherine Waruguru (Laikipia East MP aspirant), Isaac Mwaura (Ruiru MP aspirant) and Evans Kidero (Homa Bay governor aspirant) are part of election losers who have been shortlisted for the position.

Former governors Patrick Simiyu Khaemba (Trans Nzoia), James Ongwae (Kisii), Moses Lenolkulal (Samburu) and Samuel Tunai (Narok) are also part of those who have been shortlisted.

President William Ruto's ally Dennis Itumbi, former KTN journalists Linda Ogutu and Mwanaisha Chidzuga also made it to the list.

The Public Service Commission (PSC) says the candidates will be interviewed starting on March 1, 2023.

"The interview schedule showing the date and time is accessible on the Commission's website," said the commission.
