Five people heading to the inauguration ceremony of President-elect William Ruto were on Monday evening admitted at Molo Sub County Hospital.
This is after the bus they were traveling in was involved in an accident at Sachangwan area along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.
Speaking to The Standard, Molo OCPD Mwenda Muthamia said that the bus driver lost control of the vehicle.
"A school bus ferrying civilians to Nairobi from Western region has landed in a ditch at Salgaa. Five passengers are being attended to at the Molo hospital," said Muthamia.
He said that it was not immediately clear how many passengers were on board the bus at the time of the accident.
"The passengers who were on board disembarked safely except those who had to be rescued. Only one has a serious injury while four are slightly injured," said Muthamia.
The bus belonged to St Johan The Baptist Likuyani Boys High School, a facility ran by Catholic Diocese of Kakamega.
Rachel Maru, a first responder said that passengers who escaped unhurt mingled with other onlookers.
"We attended to some of them who are in hospital. We believe most of those who were unhurt proceeded with their journey using other means," said Maru.
