The hearing of a defilement case against Mogotio UDA candidate Reuben Kiborek was on August 2, 2022, adjourned after he failed to appear in court.

The MP aspirant is alleged to have sexually assaulted a 16-year-old on December 23, 2018, at the Sarova Woodlands Hotel in Nakuru.

His lawyer said the politician was unwell, but the prosecution asked the court to issue a warrant of arrest if the suspect doesn't produce supporting medical documents.

The girl's lawyer complained that the case had delayed, adding that this was in violation of the standard procedure that such cases should be prosecuted within six months of registration.

The matter has been mentioned more than 12 times, the lawyer said, but has not proceeded to full hearing due to several adjournments.

"We demand from this honourable court, the prosecutor and the Director of Criminal Investigations to prosecute this matter to the conclusion when coming up for hearing on August 1."

In October 2019, the court gave orders to have Kiborek subjected to a DNA test at the Nakuru Provincial General Hospital. The case will be mentioned on August 15.
