Justice Martha Koome was on Friday sworn-in as the Chief Justice of the Republic of Kenya at State House, Nairobi.

The 61-year-old career judge becomes the country’s first female Chief Justice and head of the Judiciary. She replaces David Maraga, who retired early this year.

The fifteenth Chief Justice dazzled in a red robe, reintroduced by Maraga in 2016 following the departure of Willy Mutunga who favoured green robes during his tenure as the CJ.

On her side was her husband Koome Kiragu and three children, son Kelvin Koome and daughters; Kagwira Koome and Nkirote Koome.

Kelvin looked dapper in a statement-making black ensemble while Kagwira stunned in a show-stopping midi dress. Nkirote brought a refreshing look to African prints with subtle accessories and chic afro.
