Somber mood as commissioner’s wife buried

BY MERCY KAHENDA

Nakuru,Kenya: A sombre mood engulfed Oloronkai village in Nakuru County as dignitaries, friends and relatives gathered to pay their last respects to the late Esther Letangule, wife to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioner Thomas Letangule.

Tears flowed freely as Mr Letangule eulogised his wife as a caring mother, loving wife, and a humble and cheerful woman who readily welcomed people in her home.

Among those in attendance were eight commissioners of the electoral body led by Chairman Issack Hassan and CEO James Oswago.

“It is a painful loss. Esther was loving and hardworking. She cared about her family, relatives and friends. I will greatly miss her,” as he stared at the coffin bearing the remains of his wife.

Letangule said it was painful that God chose to take away the mother of his three children at the time when they needed her most.

He called for speedy and thorough investigation into the death of his wife who passed on at a Nairobi hospital under unclear circumstances.
