Members of the Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security were teary-eyed as they paid tribute to Kiambaa MP Paul Koinange.

MPs Fatuma Gedi (Wajir), Roza Buyu (Kisumu), Peter Kaluma (Homa Bay town) and Tecla Tum (Nandi) broke down into tears at Parliament building in a press briefing.

Led by the committee’s Vice Chairperson Gedi, the members appealed for a state burial for the late lawmaker.

They remembered Koinange for his efforts to reform the police and prison services.

The Kiambaa constituency MP died on Wednesday morning of Covid-19 complications at the Nairobi Hospital.

He was the Chairperson of the National Assembly Administration and Security Committee.
