Leaders eulogise the late Simeon Nyachae, condole with family

Former Cabinet Minister Simeon Nyachae (pictured) is dead, his son, Charles Nyachae confirmed on Monday.

Charles, the oldest son of former Cabinet Minister Simeon Nyachae, extended his appreciation to the team of doctors and nurses that has attended to his late father during his ailing over the years until he breathed his last.

“I spoke to the president who conveyed his condolences to us as a family and we appreciate that,” he said.

Nyachae was receiving treatment at the Nairobi Hospital.

Interior CS Fred Mating'i has condoled with the family of late former minister Simeon Nyachae. He termed him as a father to many.

“We thank God for the wonderful life that he gave him and the opportunity he gave all of us to work with him and for to be our father, our, leader and mentor,” he said.

ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga said the Abagusii community has “lost one of its most illustrious sons.”

“My heartfelt and sincere condolences go out to the family of former Cabinet Minister, MP, and long-serving career civil servant Simeon Nyachae,” he said.

Irungu Kang’ata described him as “an astute administrator, gifted leader and a family man.”

“Condolences to the family of late Nyachae on his demise. He was an astute administrator, gifted leader and a family man. His visit to Murang’a town in 1975 as a PC changed life for one late Irungu, a poor mechanic and dad to yours truly. He touched many,” tweeted Kang’ata.

Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya termed Nyachae as an astute leader who served with diligence and dedication.

“He was a development-oriented leader who empowered his people through various development projects and programmes. The Country has lost a great son and leader who spent most of his life serving his people,” he tweeted.

Kenya Film Classification Board CEO, Dr Ezekiel Mutua, said Mzee Simeon Nyachae was “an enigma, an outstanding long serving top civil servant, an astute leader and businessman who spoke his mind. He leaves a rich legacy of an impeccable service to the nation. Fare ye well Mzee Nyachae. Your legacy lives on!”
