KECOSO Games: Kabarak draw against PCK to secure semis slot

Postal Corporation of Kenya (PCK) were held to a one all draw by Kabarak University on the fourth day of Kenya Communications Sports Organizations (KECOSO) Games at ASK Nakuru Showground on Tuesday.

A 64th minute goal by Enock Mmcsi was all Kabarak needed to secure a point against the former champions who replied five minutes later through Francis Nambute.

As a result, Kabarak University romped into the semifinals having finished runners up with two points from two matches behind PCK who topped Group A with four points.

Kabarak face FC Talanta’s Communications Authority (CA) in the first semifinal match this morning before PCK take on the Ministry of Roads and Transport (MORT).

In their last match, MORT were hammered 5-0 by Talanta.

In ladies’ volleyball, CA recorded a straight sets win over MORT in a one sided match.

Although CA won all the three sets in 25-20, 25-18 and 25-20 to send a stern warning to opponents of their seriousness to scoop the title, they labored to get the victory.

However, MORT produced some outstanding players in the match as their Flavian Awinja came out as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Charity Munyao as the best setter.

“It was tough but we believed in ourselves from the first to the last whistle and gave them (CA) a run for their money despite losing in all the sets. Our joy is that the margins of losses in the sets were narrow. We’ll give our next opponents another good chase”, Awinja told Standard Sports.

On their part, CA’s Scovia Omondi and teammate Lorran Kamau were voted as best libero and the best attacker respectively.

In the men’s volleyball matches, CA also walloped Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) 3-1 (25-16, 27-25, 27-29 and 29-27) to keep close their title ambitions.

And in their second match, guest team Simlaw Seeds kept their winning streak thumping MORT 3-1 with the losers winning the first set 25-19 before they (Simlaw Seeds) won the rest of the sets 27-25, 29-27 and 25-19 respectively.
