Kenya Chipu is brimming with confidence as they gear up to face hosts Zimbabwe in the Rugby Africa Barthes U20 Trophy final at the Harare Sports Club this Sunday.

With a few strategic changes to the lineup and a buoyant team spirit, Chipu is poised for a thrilling title decider.

In a significant shake-up to the starting XV, Willy Tino and Philip Okeyo will make their first starts after making impactful appearances off the bench in previous matches.

Tino will join the backrow, filling in for the injured team captain Edmond Omondi, while utility back Okeyo will take up the inside center position, with Michael Wamalwa moving to outside center. Andy Cole Omolo steps up as captain for this crucial encounter.

Chipu coach Simon Jawichre expressed his optimism ahead of the final, highlighting the team's progress since arriving in Harare.

"When we landed in Harare, there were still some rough edges. However, we have improved significantly each day and are now as prepared as we can be to face The Junior Sables," commented Jawichre.

The atmosphere within the Chipu camp is described as solid, with a strong sense of camaraderie and focus. Jawichre acknowledged the challenging environment they will encounter at the Harare Sports Club, emphasizing the importance of support from their fellow Kenyans.

"Harare Sports Club will be a hostile hunting ground, and we need the encouragement of our compatriots," Jawichre added.

The team concluded their preparations with a successful Captains run, indicating satisfaction with their readiness for the final showdown.

Additionally, there is anticipation surrounding the potential debuts of Eddy Otieno and Elvis Otieno, who have been named on the bench and could make their first appearances in the tournament during the final.
