The 2024 Interbank Golf Tournament attracted 298 players from across the country who battled for glory at the par 72 Royal Nairobi Golf Club on Friday.

One of the players who was hopeful for victory is the 2019 lady winner Berline Okeyo.

“My aim is to reclaim the title, away from that I’m here to network and have fun with other players in the banking industry,” Okeyo told Standard Sports.

Playing off handicap 23, Wolfgang Omondi reiterated that the tournament gave him an opportunity to let out the pending steam from work.

It was the third time that Omondi was trying his luck in the contest, having come close to winning ways in 2022.

Title sponsors Mastercard stated that their support towards the competition reflects their commitment to not only fostering the banking industry collaborations and promotion of excellence but also bringing people closer to their passions.

By supporting events like these, Mastercard said they are continuing to create unique, priceless experiences that connect stakeholders and cardholders with the activities they love, transforming their everyday moments into something extraordinary.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with the Kenya Bankers Association as the title sponsor of this year’s Interbank Golf Tournament. Mastercard’s support of this event reflects its ongoing commitment to creating shared moments of inspiration and connection. The event also aligns perfectly with our long-standing dedication to the financial sector in Kenya. Through golf—a sport that champions precision, strategy, and teamwork—we continue to nurture a sense of community and excellence across the industry,” said Shehryar Ali, Senior Vice President and Country Manager for East Africa and Indian Ocean Islands at Mastercard.

Ali’s sentiments were echoed by Raimond Molenje, acting CEO of the Kenya Bankers Association stating: “We are honoured to have Mastercard as the title sponsor for this highly anticipated event. Their support underscores a shared vision of elevating Kenya’s banking sector through collaboration and innovative experiences.”
