Former national women’s volleyball champions Kenya Prisons became the second Kenyan team to qualify for the quarter-finals of the ongoing Africa Women Volleyball Club Championships in Cairo, Egypt.

Prisons defeated Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) by three straight sets to join national champions Kenya Pipeline in the last eight as the Kenyan teams continue to fight for the continental supremacy.

It was a match the wardresses won with ease from the first to the final set with some stiff challenge coming in the second set, which the Nigerians gave a good account of themselves to lose 25-19.

The wardresses will now face national champions KCB in the quarter-finals after the bankers also eliminated Asec Mimosa of Ivory Coast in straight sets of 25-6, 25-18 and 25-13.

Meanwhile, Kenya Pipeline who cruised into the last eight without serving the ball take on National Alcohol and Liquor Factory (NAL) of Ethiopia in the quarter-finals.

NAL had beaten Association Sports De Bejaia of Algeria in another pre-quarterfinal match.
