Akinyi Gitonga bags top prize at Karen Ladies Ninth Medal tournament

Akinyi Gitonga carded an excellent 68 nett to top spot in Division A during the ninth Karen Ladies Medal tournament played at the Karen Country Club's Course on Wednesday.

Integrated Marketing Communications and events agency IMG Kenya Limited supported the daylong 18 holes tourney that saw

Akinyi followed closely by her clubmates Koki Muia and Kellie Gachaga who finished second and third spots with scores of 73 nett and 75 nett, respectively.

“It has been a good day of golf playing around a well-maintained course with friends and partners. In fact, this to me is ongoing training in preparation for the forthcoming Ladies Coast Open tournament that will be played around the Five Coastal Club Course from 5 th to 10 th August. It will be a challenging tourney putting in mind that several top lady golfers from the neighboring countries will also be participating. So I am really looking forward to that, “said Gachaga.

Division B was dominated by Nkini Pasha, who carded an impressive 65 nett, beating Jennifer Cege who secured the runner-up position with 67 nett, while Nellie Njaga claimed third place at 70 nett.

Amara Kimari, a Junior golfer, stole the show in Division C with a score of 40 stable ford points, while Kellie Gachaga claimed the gross category of the category with 80 gross.

In other results, Njeri Onyango and Milcah Kamere triumphed in the Nines challenge, each scoring 35 nett on the first and second nine holes respectively.

At the same time, Jennifer Cege displayed exceptional skills on the putting green, winning the Putting Challenge with a remarkable 25 putts, while Muthoni Kioi, another Junior Golfer, impressed with a score of 74 nett to secure the Junior category win.
