Amos Wanjala believes that his experience playing for Athletic Club Torrellano in Spain, combined with the quality training from local coaches in camp, will significantly boost Kenya's performance in the upcoming AFCON U-20 CECAFA qualifiers.
Wanjala, who joined the Spanish fourth-tier club earlier this year, has been sharpening his skills and gaining valuable exposure.
Speaking after a friendly match between the Rising Stars and FKF Premier League side FC Talanta on Monday at Police Sacco Stadium, where they narrowly lost 1-0, Wanjala expressed optimism about the team's chances in the tournament.
"I've gained a bit of experience from my time in Spain, and here in camp, we're all learning. Our goal is to play as a team and win the tournament," said Wanjala.
Meanwhile, USA-based forward Louis Ingavi has called on Kenyans to rally behind the team, highlighting the positive training environment and the impact of their coaches. He expressed confidence that the Rising Stars will deliver an improved performance this season.
The AFCON U-20 CECAFA qualifiers will run from October 6 to 20, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Kenya is drawn in Group A alongside hosts Tanzania, Rwanda, Sudan, and Djibouti. Defending champions Uganda are in Group B, joined by South Sudan, Burundi, and Ethiopia.
