KCB FC are top of the 2024-2025 Football Kenya Federation (FKF)
The bankers moved top after securing their first win of the new season when they saw off Muranga SEAL 2-0 at their home ground, the Sportpesa Arena, Murang’a County.
Center-back Haniff Wesonga opened the scoring for the Bankers in added time of the first half, heading in a superb goal from James Kinyanjui's well-delivered corner kick, putting the team ahead by one goal at the breather.
In the 60th minute, Patrick Otieno, a recent signing from Posta Rangers, sealed the victory with a perfectly placed header, finishing off a brilliant run by the industrious James Kinyanjui and opening his goal-scoring account for the Ruaraka-based side.

The win signals a promising start for new head coach Patrick Odhiambo, who took charge of the team during the recently concluded transfer window.
Speaking after the match, Odhiambo said, "This was a beautiful game and a positive start, especially compared to our last match. Our focus now is on building a stronger squad and winning more games."
Despite the victory, the game was not without its challenges. Debutant Danson Kiprono, who came on as a second-half substitute for James Kinyanjui, received a red card after picking up two yellow cards in quick succession. He now joins left-back Herit Mungai on the suspension list, with Mungai having been sent off in the season opener against Kariobangi Sharks.
"Most of my players are fit and available for selection, apart from the two serving suspensions. We continue to work on our fitness and are determined to win as many games as possible," Odhiambo added.
KCB FC captain Brian 'Rio' Ochieng praised the team’s performance and commended the goal scorers. "We had a tough match against a worthy opponent, but teamwork prevailed, and we emerged victorious. I am especially happy for Patrick Otieno, who netted his first goal for the club. I believe it is the first of many. Haniff also played a solid game, which is encouraging for the whole team. Our focus now is to keep the momentum going."
KCB FC will face Posta Ranger in their next match on September 21, at Thika Stadium.
