Siaya County giants Ng’iya Girls are the new Nyanza Region Secondary School basketball 3x3 champions.

Ng’iya who finished runners up last year were crowned the 2024 regional champions after seeing off Kisumu County’s Nyakach Girls 10-6 in a close call final played at Kisii School basketball courts on Saturday.

With Most Valuable Player (MVP) Cecilia Atieno firing from all corners, dropping three pointers and layups at ease, Ng’iya finished the four day championships unbeaten as they book their ticket to the national finals once again.

Speaking after helping Ng’iya win the regional title, coach Naftali Ambala congratulated his players stating that they will be going for a podium finish at the nationals.

Amabala explained that the team lacked experience last year when they graced the national finals for the first time but this year their team is strong and raring to go.

“Team work and support from the administration has helped lift Ng’iya Girls to nationals again. We are happy for the win but our job is not yet done. East Africa is the ceiling for us and we will be going back to the drawing board,” said Amabala.
