A 27-year-old man was allegedly mauled to death by dogs in Ajigo sub-location, Bondo sub-county.

The deceased, who has been identified as Stephen Lilungo, worked as a home guard before he was allegedly attacked by his employer’s dogs a couple of days ago.

Bondo sub-county Criminal Investigations Officer Reuben Onchoka said they visited the home following a tip-off from the public.

"We visited the scene and recovered skeleton believed to belong to the deceased," said Onchoka.

Police have already summoned the owner of the home, a veterinary officer, to record a statement over that matter.

Ajigo sub-location assistant chief of Stephen Aluoch said that Lilungo who hails from Kakamega was recently employed to take care of the dogs at the home.

The remains of the guard were discovered on Saturday evening after the owner of the home, Were Miseda, sent a friend to check on Lilungo after he failed to reach him on phone since Thursday last week.

The administrator said Miseda’s friend was however, scared when he found the dogs roaming the compound and the home guard was missing.

"I alerted police officers from Lwala Kotiende Police Station who came and accessed the home only to find a skeleton believed to belong to Lilungo," he said.

Lilungo’s remains were removed to Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary.

Elsewhere, a pupil was attacked and killed by a crocodile on Saturday evening while taking a bath in River Yala.

The body was removed to Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary as officers from Kenya Wildlife Services search for the reptile.
