MPs calls for end to Ruto, Gachagua tiff

Two members of the National Assembly want Present William Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua to put their house in order.

Suba South MP Caroli Omondi and his Gem counterpart Elisha Odhiambo said the differences between Ruto and Gachagua are not good for the country.

Speaking during a gospel music competition at Homa Bay Central SDA Church in Homa Bay Town constituency, Omondi said Kenya requires economic recovery at this moment, not wrangles.

He argued that the economic recovery can only be achieved through peaceful co-existence among the leaders.

"What is highly needed in Kenya today is development. Meaning the country is in the economic recovery trajectory and that is what Kenyans expect," Omondi said.

The Suba South MP called for political solution to differences between the president and his deputy.

"We are just two years from election and this country cannot afford a discordant presidency. I am sure a political solution will be found to address the issues," Omondi said.

Odhiambo challenged Gachagua to stop making statements to injure the reputation of President Ruto.

He argued that the DP's allies have developed developed a habit of insulting the President during the former's events.

"I challenge Mr Gachagua to stop his troops from attacking the President in his functions. Let him control them," Odhiambo.

He accused a section of Gachagua's allies of making inflammatory statements which threaten national cohesion in Kenya.

"Some MPs in Gachagua's camp make very inflammatory statements which can polarise peaceful co-existence among some communities of this country. Let them avoid dividing this country," Odhiambo said.

Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo who was the chief guest at the function called for peace in the country.

Omollo said peace is key to implementation of development projects.

He told residents to shun leaders fanning divisive politics.

"We need peace to prevail in our country enable us to have a conducive environment for development. Let us co-exist well and support all leaders in our country for the sake of economic growth," Dr Omollo told residents.

The PS said the government is undertaking various development projects in Homa Bay county.

“There are electricity project worth Sh1.5 billion, water and road construction projects which the government is undertaking in this county. Let residents know so that they approach leaders from the point of knowledge,” he said.
