Young people across the country are once again preparing for anti-government demonstrations occur today across several counties.
The protests, branded "Rage and Courage" and trending under the hashtags #OccupyEverywhere and #RutoMustGo, aim to demand accountability from Kenyan leaders and combat corruption.
In Nairobi, streets were deserted, and businesses remained closed as of 9 am amid a heavy police presence, including officers in both uniform and civilian attire.
By noon, police engaged protesters in running battles within Moi Avenue, Nairobi, lobbing teargas canisters at the peaceful demonstrators.
Major roads leading to Parliament, City Hall, and the Supreme Court have been barricaded by anti-riot police.
A spot check by The Standard also revealed a surveillance helicopter making rounds overhead.
In Kitengela, anti-government protesters have blocked the Nairobi-Namanga Road, with businesses in the town remaining closed.
A similar situation is reported in Migori County, where young protesters have blocked the Isebania-Migori-Kisii Highway.
Young people in Baringo County have also gathered in Kabarnet town to begin operation 'Occupy Kabarnet', protests that seek to demand accountability and good governance from Governor Benjamin Cheboi's administration.
