The departed Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla has been laid to rest in his Mor village home, Ng’iya, Siaya County.

The fallen soldier has been buried in a private ceremony, where only family members, clergymen, military personnel and top state officials were granted access.

This was after a short funeral service at Senator Obama Primary School which was open to members of the public.

Elected and non-elected leaders from every part of the country were present at the funeral, alongside locals.

After the service, the body was moved to his home for burial.

Before lowering his body, the military sang the national anthem after which the General was given a 19-gun salute as his body was being lowered.

Afterwards, ACK Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit read from the scriptures.

Present at the graveside were the wife, children and siblings of General Ogolla, President William Ruto and First Lady Racheal Ruto, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, Defence CS Aden Duale, members of the National Security Council among others.

Shortly after, the military handed over the General’s official attire; boots, medallions, and sword to his widow, Aileen Ogolla, marking the end of his four decades of service in the Kenyan military.
