Eight people have been killed in a road accident involving a matatu and a trailer near Ngata Bridge on the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway,
Nakuru County Police Commander Samuel Ndanyi, confirming the incident, said the matatu was heading towards Eldoret when it collided head-on with a trailer.
The trailer, he said, was heading towards Nakuru town.
The Public Service Vehicle was in the climbing lane.
Six adults and two minors are among those killed in the accident.
"As at now we can confirm eight people have died and one has been injured. They include six adults and two children," said the police boss.
The Ngata stretch is a marked blackspot.
In November 2023, eleven people were killed in an accident that involved a matatu and a lorry.
Last year, Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen announced that a dual carriage from Nakuru to Ngata Bridge would be completed by April.
Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) erected road signage warning motorists of the dangerous black spot.
In December 2022, eight people died after two matatus they were traveling in were involved in a road crash with a trailer.
