Duale in shuttle diplomacy over Horn of Africa security

"My three-day working trip to the Arab Republic of Egypt culminated in delivering a special message from President William Ruto to his counterpart, Egyptian President El-Sisi," said Duale.

During the three-day tour of Egypt, the CS was hosted by his counterpart Egyptian Gen Mohamed Ahmed Zaki at the Defense Headquarters where their talks focused on expanding and cementing the two countries' bilateral ties and cooperation in different sectors of the economy including defence and security particularly in Kenya and the Horn of Africa.

"Our discussion centred on regional security, Kenya-Egypt Defense cooperation, counter-terrorism cooperation," he said.

The two ministers also discussed how to deepen collaboration in defence relations and finalised the defence cooperation agreement between the two Defense forces.

"Our discussion centered around war on terror, counter insurgency, military defence industries, counter IED strategies and enhanced training between our defence colleges among other issues," said Duale.

He said they also discussed collaboration on regional security, including Sudan and the Horn of Africa as peace and stability is key to economic development.

The CS was accompanied by Deputy Director Defence National Security Industries Brig Sylvester Chirchir, Col James Njue from the Defence Headquarters, Kenya's Defence Attachee to Egypt Col Emmanuel Ptiony and the Commander of Construction Battalion Lt Col John Njoroge.
