A woman was on Tuesday charged before Makadara Law Courts with allegedly conspiring to commit murder.
According to the court papers, Saphina Amudede allegedly committed the offence on February 17, 2024, in Komarock, Nairobi.
Amudede was accused of conspiring with DA a security personnel now turned state witness to allegedly kill S K who is her son-in-law.
On the material day, the accused approached some security personnel in Komarock estate and allegedly asked them to help her hire a hitman to kill her son-in-law who is the complainant in the case.
Amudede allegedly told the security personnel that the complainant and his wife had been having domestic wrangles including custody of the children which is yet to be resolved in court.
The accused, according to the particulars, was not happy when she was advised by her son-in-law to move out of their home since she was interfering with his life.
The security personnel reportedly leaked the information to other casual workers, before it was shared with the complainant who then reported to police.
Following the developments, the security personnel were advised to inform the accused that they had found a hitman. In the case one of the police officers posed as the hitman.
The accused had sent some money to the security guard who had been tasked to search for a hitman after they agreed that she would pay Sh50,000 for the job.
On February 24, it was reported that the source of money was coming from the accused including instructions to carry out the killing, around that time the photo of the complainant had been produced unknown to her that police were involved.
On February 25, a down payment of Sh16,000 was sent to Diana Anyona and the remaining balance was to be forwarded once the complainant was eliminated.
With police having gathered all the information the accused was arrested.
She denied the charges and was granted Sh200,000 cash bail or Sh300,000 bond. The case will be mentioned on March 25, 2024.
