The Pulse Music Video Awards is the most prestigious annual music video award in the region.
1. It is an offshoot of Pulse Magazine, the longest-serving weekly entertainment pullout, free with The Standard.
2. PMVA is celebrating its ninth edition, while Pulse Magazine is now 20 years old.
3. This year's gala ceremony will be held at Nairobi Street Kitchen on February 21. It is going to be a black-tie, red-carpet ceremony. It's an invite-only ceremony.
4. The event will be aired live on KTN and will also be streamed on various digital platforms.
5. There are 13 categories being competed for, including Best Male Video, Best Female Video, Best Group of the Year, Best Video Vixen, Best DJ, Best Breakthrough Video, Best TikTok, New Artist of the Year, Best Collaboration of the Year, and Best Video Director of the Year.
6. There are over 50 nominees competing in the 13 categories, and some of the names include Femi One, Bahati, Boutross, Maandy, Babushka Kenya, Ndovu Kuu, Princess Recho, Sofiya Nzau, Wakadinali, Ssaru, Bridget Blue, Breeder Lw, Mbogi Genje, and Spider Clan.
7. The sponsors of the event are Infinix and Jubilee Health Insurance, among others.
8. Winners will be gifted with prestigious prizes, among them the PMVA trophy.
9. The ceremony will be attended by the who's who in the entertainment industry.
10. The 2024 (10th edition) PMVA will be held in December this year.
