Wajir East MP Adan Daud has said he is focused on improving education in his constituency to enhance literacy levels, which will contribute to development.

Speaking at the newly established Shucublow Secondary School, the MP emphasised the need to invest in infrastructure in educational institutions to accord students and teachers a safe and comfortable learning environment.

Through the Constituency Development Fund, the MP has built six classrooms, eight toilets, water tanks and an administration block at the school.

"Our region has been facing several challenges including but not limited to lack of teachers, poor infrastructure and insecurity. I am delighted to announce that my office has commissioned several classrooms and ultra-modern laboratories in four new schools and three existing ones," Daud said.

The MP noted that with the rising number of learners in the region, there is a need to prioritise infrastructure development in schools.

"This will ensure there is enough space for learners," said the MP.

Wajir East Education officer Mr Nur Ibrahim lauded the efforts by the MP, saying: "The population of school-going children in Wajir is growing. There is a need for the construction of more classrooms.
