A police constable attached to Angata Barrikoi Police Station in Transmara South sub-county is admitted to hospital after he was shot with an arrow by unknown assailants.
Transmara South Sub-county Police commander Charles Opondo said the officer was shot with an arrow while patrolling maize plantations on December 31, 2023.
"The officer was shot while on duty patrolling the maize plantation, but he is out of danger as we speak right now and is responding well to treatment and we have launched an investigation into the incident," Opondo said.
The police boss said they have intensified patrol at the maize plantations which he said was a hideout for criminals
"These maize plantations have become a hideout for criminals who are trying to cause chaos but we will not relent in our efforts to secure the area from these criminals," Opondo said.
He said that they have deployed more security personnel to the area to crack down on the perpetrators.
Angata Barrikoi has witnessed insecurity and recently three people were shot at Keturo near the Chinese area along Angata Barrikoi -Ntimaru road.
Two of the victims were tending to their maize plantation while the third person was a milk vendor who was transporting the produce to Ntimaru town when they were shot by unknown people who are believed to have been hiding in the maize plantations.
