Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha has distributed 2,400 smartphones to community health promoters in West Pokot.

Nakhumicha, who was accompanied by Public Health and Professional Standards Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni, said the devices will enhance service delivery.

The duo also delivered essential health equipment expected to be distributed to health centres.

The consignment consisted of smartphones, box kits, fridges and special beds.

Nakhumicha said the CHPs have been trained and given kits to deliver door-to-door health services to locals.

"The smartphones will help CHPs to capture details of the locals. We are trying to do away with paperwork so that every person's details are well captured and for easy checking of the progress of the patient," she said.

The CS added that Kenya's Kwanza government is keen on ensuring health services are available, accessible, and affordable to every Kenyan.

West Pokot Governor Simon Kachapin said the county government supports all national government's policies to enhance healthcare.

He added that West Pokot County had been marginalised, but such programmes to boost healthcare will promote good relations between the two governments.

"I am glad the CS has launched essential health equipment to be distributed to health centres as part of her commitment during a recent visit to health facilities, among them Murkwijit Health Centre," said Kachapin.
