KNUT boss survives a grisly accident in Kombewa, Kisumu

Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Collins Oyuu has been hospitalized at a hospital in Kisumu after surviving a horrific accident.

This is after the car the Knut boss was traveling in veered off the road and rolled several times at Kombewa in Kisumu.

Oyuu who had been traveling to Kisumu International Airport is out of danger but doctors are still monitoring him.

In an interview with The Standard, Oyuu who is undergoing treatment at Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu said he was still in shock.

He said he was saved by a seatbelt that prevented him from being thrown out of the vehicle.

"I am doing better but still in shock. I had tied my seatbelt and it held me when the accident occurred, " he said.

The accident occurred along Bondo-Kisumu road. It is still unclear what had caused the vehicle to overturn. Police officers have launched investigations into the incident.
