Our Lady of Mercy Ringa Boys High School Principal has confirmed 30 students have so far sought medical attention over some flu-like infection.
Some parents were called by the school management to pick up their sons late last week and early this week for further medical attention.
The school Principal Austin Muma who spoke to The Standard on the phone said there was no crisis at the institution. "There is no crisis, it is not an outrageous matter. We had the issue two weeks ago and it has gone down. Our parents should be assured of their sons' safety."
The Principal said there was flu in most parts of the County.
"The Government issued an alert. We have a clinical officer in the school. Doctors from Oyugis Sub County came over and did a recommendable job. We couldn't carry them to the hospital."
The school located in Homabay County's Rachuonyo East Sub-county has a population of 1,970 students.
Muma said the situation forced them to send two students home.
"The two students presented flu-like symptoms as well as headache. We handed the students to their parents because their flu was accompanied by other symptoms," Muma said.
Regional Education Officers and other government officials visited the school to assure students of their safety.
