A man who is for the second time appearing in court over the same charges of threatening to kill his mother and causing disturbance has denied the accusations.
The court heard that 24-year-old Ethan Chege allegedly threatened to chop his mother Anastacia Ndunge into small pieces like vegetables before evicting her from her house in Ruai Njiru Sub-County in Nairobi on March 6, 2023.
"Nitakukatakata kama mboga (I will chop you like vegetables)," words which he directed to his mother and which the police and prosecution believe were death threats to the complainant.
He was also charged with creating a disturbance in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace contrary to section 95 (1) of the penal code by chasing his mother Ndunge from her home on the same date.
He was also found in possession of narcotics contrary to section 3 (1) of the narcotics drugs and psychotropic substances control Act of 1994. He was allegedly found with bhang worth Sh4,900 at the time of his arrest on March 24, 2023.
The accused is said to have unleashed the threats to his mother when he found her entertaining some relatives at their home. This forced her into hiding.
Following a report to authorities, the accused was arrested and taken to the police station. It was later revealed that he had been charged last year with similar offences of issuing death threats to his mother and creating a disturbance.
He was freed on a bond of Sh200,000 pending the hearing on September 20, 2023.
