A man was stabbed to death at a village in Cherang'any, Trans Nzoia County, on Tuesday after an alleged fight over a woman.
Twenty-year-old Kevin Sakwa is said to have been attacked by his friend following an argument. The incident happened at Motosiet village around 10pm.
Sakwa and his assailant are said to have been drinking at a local chang'aa den when the incident took place.
Local police said the victim was stabbed in the chest and that they have already launched investigations into the incident.
The two reportedly fought over a girl who works for the chang'aa brewer, according to area chief Isaac Kichwen.
"The chang'aa seller has employed girls to serve and entertain customers. They fought over a girl before the victim was stabbed," said Kichwen.
Kichwen said the victim liked one of the girls and even approached her. However, his attacker was not pleased.
"He was jealous. A heated argument ensued and ended up in a fight. The victim was stabbed in the chest and left bleeding profusely," said Kichwen.
The suspect escaped even as irate villagers who responded to the victim's distress call burnt down the chang'aa den.
County Police Commander Jacinta Wesonga said they are investigating the matter and are also looking for the suspect.
