The outgoing Governor of Makueni County Kivutha Kibwana has officially joined Kenya Kwanza Alliance, which is led by President-elect William Ruto.
This comes days after he lost his Senate bid in the August 9, 2022, General Election.
Kibwana was ineligible to run for governorship after reaching the maximum two-term limit.
The former governor's aide, who spoke to The Standard in confidence, said Kibwana will join Ruto's legal team against a presidential petition filed by Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya leader Raila Odinga.
On Tuesday, August 23, Kibwana postponed a county event, where he was scheduled to launch a green gram processing factory. He'd later be seen, in pictures, at the Karen residence of president-elect Ruto.
Kibwana's decamping comes barely a week after he alleged that Odinga was rigged out of the presidential race.
"In Makueni County, IEBC elections were compromised. Kibwezi West Constituency, one out of six elections should have been postponed. For Example, initially KIEMS kits in 106 out of 206 polling stations failed. For more than six hours, kits in 84 stations failed before chaotic manual voting, which ended [at] about 1 am," he said on Twitter.
