Optiven Foundation has launched a Sh5 million scholarship targeting 40 students in Technical and Vocational Training Institutes.

The programme launched at Labbura Secondary School is dubbed The Soaring Eagles Scholarship Programme.

Speaking during the launch, the foundation’s chairman George Wachiuri said the sponsorship aims at increasing youth employment prospects.

Mr Wachiuri said the Tvet programme will be rolled out in all the 47 counties, up from the current 14 counties.

Mr Wachiuri said a study by the Higher Education Loans Board shows that employment prospects is at 96 per cent for Tvets graduates compared to 40 per cent for university graduates.
