Covid-19: Kenya vaccinates 138,139, records 20 new cases in last 24 hours

Kenya has so far administered 15,616,694 Covid-19 vaccines across the country according to the Ministry of Health latest records.

Of these, 7,505,415 have been partially vaccinated while 7,109,900 have been fully vaccinated.

Another 753,567 are doses administered to those between 15 to 17 years while 232,029 are booster doses.

In a statement on Tuesday, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the ministry administered 138, 139 vaccines across the country in the last 24 hours while the number of people fully vaccinated within the same period now stands at 68,508.

New infections

Kenya recorded 20 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, from a sample of 5,545 raising the country's caseload to 322,517.

CS Kagwe said the new infections take the country’s positivity rate to 0.4 per cent and cumulated tests conducted so far to 3,304,677.

Out of the new patients, five are female, whereas 15 are male, with the youngest carrier being a one-year-old child and the oldest aged 70.

Of the new cases, four are foreigners while the rest are Kenyans.

Distribution

In terms of counties distribution, Nairobi County recorded 11 cases, Uasin Gishu 3, Nakuru 2, Garissa, Kiambu, Machakos and Nyeri 1 case each.

Kenya’s Covid-19 death toll still at 5,632 after no death from the virus was reported in the last 24 hours.

Total recoveries now stand at 302,866 after 37 patients recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours 32 from the Home-Based and Isolation care programme and five from various health facilities in the country.

Of the total recoveries, 250,079 are from the Home Based Isolation Care programme while 52,782 are from various hospitals countrywide.

Admitted

A total of 157 patients are currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 647 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.

Four (4) patients are in the ICU three of them are on ventilatory support and one on supplemental oxygen. No patient is under observation.

Another 30 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen 27 of them in the general wards, while three patients are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
