A man nicknamed ‘spiderman’ who has allegedly been breaking into people’s homes within Kilimani and Kileleshwa estates has been arrested.

The suspect, Kennedy Otieno Oyier, was arraigned at Kibera law courts with detectives seeking more time to detain him until they complete their investigations.

Police investigating the matter told the court that Oyier was arrested on April 11 after several reports of burglary, house break-ins and theft reports within Kilimani, Kileleshwa and Capital Hill and booked at the Kilimani Police Station.

The detective told the court that the suspect was arrested after various complaints were made at the station and that in some incidences, the suspect was captured on CCTV footage.

“Preliminary investigations indicate the suspect was a notorious house breaker and who has the habit of terrorizing residents of Kilimani and in some incidences he was captured in CCTV footage,” police told the court.

Some of the items recovered during the suspect’s arrest included ten laptop bags, 20 flash disks, a television set, several motor vehicles parts, metal bars used to break into houses and assorted electronic cables.

The officer went ahead to state that while arresting Oyier, they found one mobile phone which they believe contained important information that will assist them to arrest his accomplices.

Kibera Senior Principal Magistrate Charles Mwaniki ordered detention of the suspect for seven days and directed that the matter be mentioned next week.
