Why I am focusing on education and security matters, says MP

As the patron of Kisumu Central NG-CDF, MP Fred Ouda is focusing on education, security and infrastructure.

“We are changing the story of education in Kisumu Central. Some 13,000 needy students have benefited from bursaries since 2017. Another 200,000 have received scholarships,” says the MP.

Late last year, he distributed bursaries worth Sh22 million to some 4,200 needy students in his constituency, with each applicant getting at least Sh5,200.

Among schools that have been rehabilitated, expanded or beautified through the MP’s initiative are Nanga and Kudho, Arina, Kaloleni and Shauri Moyo, which have had their sanitation improved through the construction of new latrines.

“We are coming with new ultra-modern classrooms at Kosawo Primary School to help decongest the existing classes. We are also putting up six classrooms.

The constituency fund is currently putting up a Sh7 million administration block at St Teresa’s Secondary School and a Sh8 million multi-purpose hall at Joel Omino Secondary School.

“We have given Victoria Primary School Sh3.6 million while Central Primary School got Sh1.6 million for renovations. At Kisumu Day Secondary School we have renovated six classrooms. We are also building a Sh6.7 million ultra-modern ablution block at the school. In addition we are renovating staff houses,” says the MP.

Ouda says they have also helped Kisumu Boys, Kisumu Girls and the Kenya Medical Training College - Lake Victoria campus. Kisumu Boys High School has benefited from 40 lockers.

“We have big plans for education in this constituency. I want to leave it better than I found it,” he says.
