The Government should allocate more funds to infrastructural development in schools in remote pastoral regions to boost performance and enrollment, Kapenguria MP Samuel Moroto has said.

Mr Moroto criticised the poor structures and lack of facilities in schools in pastoral regions, which he blamed for high illiteracy rates and poor living standards.

He called for a change in policy governing distribution of development funds to public schools. Speaking while inspecting development projects at Chelopoghoy Secondary School, Mr Moroto said schools in semi-arid areas, which border Uganda, were in deplorable conditions.
