A furious President Uhuru Kenyatta has told off Jubilee rebels who have accused him of neglecting Central Kenya, which overwhelmingly voted for him, and developing Opposition strongholds.

Speaking in Mombasa County during the launch of the Mama Ngina Drive refurbishment project, the President also declared that he would not abandon the path of reconciliation to fulfill desires of some leaders he described as selfish.

Kenyans especially those who voted for President Uhuru Kenyatta feel left out and some have not taken the ‘Washenzi’ remark lightly, while those who have been criticizing Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 Presidential ambition are enjoying it:

Nyeri town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu posted on his Facebook saying “There has been debate as to whether Mt Kenya has been receiving any development. Tanga Tanga legislators have been crisscrossing Mt Kenya counties with DP William Ruto. When criticized for starting 2022 campaigns early, they said the DP was launching development projects, where are those projects. “Kitaeleweka,”

@OliverMathenge: Can Uhuru repeat the same 'washenzi' sentiments somewhere in Murang'a or Nyeri?

@JKNjenga: Stop complaining. Uhuru Kenyatta does not you owe anything. In all his 2017 campaigns, he did not promise you anything. He only told you Raila Odinga is a madman, and you clapped and voted for him. #Washenzi

@PolycarpHinga: When TangaTanga were told to stop early politics, they said Daktari @WilliamsRuto was launching projects with a special focus on Mt. Kenya. How comes now his spanner boy Kuria is telling us hakuna maendeleo central? #Washenzi

@GallardoIzMe: "development should be directed to all corners of the country". So Central is a circle? You voted twice for this guy in a period of 3mnths. It's true when the trees in the forest said they will vote for the axe because the handle is their own. Let's not cry when called #Washenzi

@Rnagila: Robert Nagila Retweeted Oliver Mathenge "I am sure the President was not referring to the Central Kenya populace when he used “Washenzi” ."
