Murkomen celebrates Murathe's resignation

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has commended President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto for having a hand in the resignation of Jubilee Party's interim vice-chairman Murathe.

"Congratulations to Jubilee Party Leader Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy Party Leader for restoring order into the party. Tuko Pamoja," he said.

Murathe took up the vice chairman position in an interim capacity following the party's failure to hold elections.

Mr Murathe explained that it was no longer reasonable for him to attack Mr Ruto as they both sit in the party's NEC.

"I now find that it is no longer tenable to stay on as the party vice-chairman, given that I will have to sit in the same National Executive Council with a man I am taking to court to block from running for president," he told journalists at his Garden Estate home in Nairobi.

Murkomen also led a group of the DP's allies who described Murathe as a busy body, broker and political reject out to make himself relevant.

The leaders maintained that Murathe’s sentiments on Ruto’s 2022 presidency were personal and did not represent the political stand of the party, so nobody should take him seriously.

Mr Murkomen said Jubilee’s National Executive Council (NEC) - which he is a member - had not met to discuss anything concerning 2022 politics.

And when this meeting will take place, Murkomen explained, the party will communicate the decision through its rightful spokesperson - Uhuru or Ruto.
