President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday joined worshippers at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church In Nyali, Mombasa, where he called on Kenyans to pray for national unity.
The Head of State who was accompanied by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, said national unity was the foundation for the country to achieve its development agenda.
He said Kenyans should learn to live, work and respect one another, adding cohesion in the country would enable Kenyans to achieve their individual economic aspirations.
“We are, after all, one family called the Kenyan people and the Kenyan nation. We must learn to work together to develop our nation,” President Kenyatta said in his message to Kenyans.
The President also wished Kenyans a blessed Sunday and happy New Year.
Yesterday, was the last Sunday before the end of 2018 and Christians across the country thronged places of worship.
The President, who is in Mombasa for the December holiday, has emphasised that his key agenda for 2019 was to bolster the Building Bridges initiative born out of his handshake with ODM leader Raila Odinga.
In a televised interview from State House Mombasa on Saturday, Uhuru criticised leaders who are engaged in 2022 politics and asked them to first unite Kenyans under the Building Bridges initiative.
And yesterday, the Head of State said all Kenyans should to create a conducive environment for the country’s economic transformation.
“When we commit our heart and our hands to making the world around us a better place for all,” he said.
