Reject Jubilee Party, NASA leader Raila Odinga tells Kisii community

National Super Alliance leaders made a whirlwind tour of Nyamira and Kisii counties with an appeal to voters to reject Jubilee Party in the repeat presidential elections.

The politicians, led  by NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga, told voters that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto, had waged war against the Judiciary headed by their 'son' (Chief Justice David Maraga) following a historic judgment that annulled the President's re-election on August 8.

Supreme Court

Addressing five roadside rallies in the two counties attended by large crowds, Raila and his team cautioned the Abagusii against voting for Jubilee on October 17, saying the party's leaders were destroying the country through intimidation of independent institutions.

The leaders spoke of the boldness with which the Supreme Court made the ruling that led to annulling of the presidential election results.

Speaker after speaker condemned President Kenyatta's attack against Justice Maraga and his Supreme Court colleagues over the September 1 ruling touted as bold and the first in Africa.

"The Chief Justice is the head of the Supreme Court and should be respected," Raila said amid applause. 

Running mate

Raila was accompanied by his running mate, Kalonzo Musyoka, and co-principals Moses Wetang'ula and Musalia Mudavadi, governors John Nyagarama (Nyamira), James Ongwae (Kisii), and their Homa Bay counterpart, Cyprian Awiti. Others were senators James Orengo (Siaya), Okong'o O'Mogeni (Nyamira), and Sam Ongeri (Kisii).

Speaking at Nyamaiya playground in Nyamira County, Mr Wetang'ula said NASA would not participate in an election conducted by the current IEBC.
