The White House has congratulated Uhuru Kenyatta on his re-election on August 8 general elections and his subsequent declaration as president elect by IEBC.
In a statement through the office of the press secretary of the US President Donald Trump’s administration, White House commended the dedication of candidates, officials and the public to holding peaceful, fair and transparent elections.
“We welcome the statements by international and domestic observer missions affirming the credibility of the elections,” read the statement released on Monday morning through the US embassy.
Through the statement, the White House expressed concerns that demonstrations in parts of the country had turned violent urging Kenyans to reject violence and use constitutional means in resolving disputes as they encouraged president Uhuru’s calls for unity and peace in the country.
The United States assured Kenya of continued partnership that would secure a prosperous and peaceful; future for the Americans and Kenyans.
