Why 'sibling rivalry' will be NASA's undoing in polls

What will compromise NASA's chances of winning majority seats, even in its strongholds, is internal competition. Even though all the major Opposition parties are backing Raila Odinga's candidature, all of them have fielded candidates for the other seats. What this will obviously do is split Opposition votes to the advantage of Jubilee Party.

In Kwale County, for instance, Governor Salim Mvurya is almost assured of a second term because ODM and Wiper have fielded candidates. This is the case in many other areas where they might have been expected to win easily. While it is democratic for each party to field candidates (since they did not dissolve), it is a disadvantage. I would not be surprised if Jubilee won seats in NASA strongholds. If it were up to me, I would ensure that most Opposition candidates in Bungoma County, for instance, were from Ford Kenya, which is strong in the region, and leave other parts of Western region to ANC and Nyanza to ODM.
