Eliud Muthiora Kariara was yesterday locked out of a public talk that was held at the university of Nairobi.
Guards at the door, whom were acting under strict instructions from their bosses said they were instructed not to allow any late attendant after the visiting guru entered Chandaria Art Centre located at the University of Nairobi Tower
Kariara, who we learnt arrived on time but was however held up outside the room by comrades who wanted to hear more from him.
"It was good to catch a glimpse at him(Jack Ma) but as I see we have to listen to him down there at the screens," said a dejected Kariara who the guard never recognized.
Muthiora Kariara, a banker by profession and a graduate of the university of Nairobi moved people's hearts recently when he appeared in a running mates debate organized by Debates Kenya Limited.
Yesterday he also took some time to share his vast knowledge to his supporters who milled around him after the main entrance to the art centre was closed.
"Excuse me for now but we have to change the way of doing things in our country if we want to move forward. The youths must be empowered with skills and the government create job opportunities so that you can grow. And I promise you our government, President Japheth Kavinga and I will achieve that," he told a group of youth who were asking for "Chai".
Jack Ma, the founder of e-commerce site Alibaba was in town on Thursday and met a number of dignitaries, including President Uhuru Kenyatta.
He told the packed crowd that nobody expected he will become this rich -not even her wife, when he left his teaching job in the late 1990's to venture into business.
