SEALED DEAL: Boost for Uhuru, Ruto as Former Prime Minister announces Uhuru endorsement

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s bid for a second term has received a major boost after landing a major endorsement from Tanzania’s former Prime Minister Edward Lowassa.

The former PM and Opposition leader Edward Lowassa endorsed President Kenyatta’s re-election, saying he is best for EAC integration.

The endorsement was announced by the Chadema party leader during an interview with a local daily on Sunday at Nairobi Serena hotel.

The Ex-Prime Minister is in the country after he attended the burial of the former Interior CS the late Joseph Nkaissery in Kajiado County on Saturday.

During his address to mourners at the late Nkaissery’s burial, Mr Lowassa said Kenya should be proud of the strides it has made in democracy and development.

He yesterday urged Kenyans to be peaceful so as not to go back to violence as had been witnessed after the 2007 elections describing the skirmishes as having put the country to shame.

According to Lowasssa, the East African Community will be a better place with Uhuru at the helm of Kenyan affairs as president once again.

President Kenyatta’s fiercest contender Raila Odinga has cordial relations with Tanzania’s president Magufuli and pundits argue that this must have left the Tanzanian opposition with the option of supporting Uhuru Kenyatta.

Mr Lowassa intimated on his intent to make yet another attempt on the Presidency, but said he had been rigged out in favour of President Pombe.
