Starehe MP aspirant and activist Boniface Mwangi cleared by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to contest the Starehe parliamentary seat.
Mwangi arrived at Jamhuri High School escorted by his supporters, in fleets of boda boda riders and buses with banners written "Nairobi CBD iko na Bonnie".
He is vying for the Starehe seat on Ukweli party ticket in the August 8 general elections.
He arrived at 11.30 am to present his nomination papers and was later on cleared and presented with the certificate by the electoral body.
Among the aspirant's top agendas is improvement of the working conditions of small business owners, hawkers and boda boda operators.
Other critical agendas include empowerment of youths, women and people living with disabilities, setting up an arts and sports fund to support Starehe talent, and building community libraries in every ward.
He also plans to reclaim public land, especially those belonging to schools, grabbed by private developers. "There are close to 1000 title deeds that haven't been issued, I will follow up on that after being elected.”Said Mwangi.
"My mother was a hawker, I was a hawker and I understand how life is for the common people." Said Mwangi. He added that he is the voice of the voiceless and that he has their interests at heart.
Activist mwangi is leading a new movement of young and energetic Kenyans who have thrown their hat into the ring with the aim of fundamentally changing how politics is conducted in the country.
Speaking at the IEBC offices, he said "This day marks a special day for Ukweli party and for the people of starehe constituency.
We are part of a movement that represents Kenyans who believe that real change is possible. This is a beginning of a new journey to build a new starehe.
He urged the residents not to follow the six piece suite style of voting rather they should look at what they have accomplished in the previous years.
He sent a word to his competitors saying he is ready for a debate since his track record is well and clear and he is not involved in any scandals. He urged against violent politics terming it as unworthy. 'No politician is worth dying for, "said mwangi.
He added by saying that starehe will be made safer and cleaner and the voiceless people will be heard.
"I will ensure the voices of the people are heard and taxes paid are put into good use, and included that the traders of Muthurwa and Gikomba markets deserve good toilet facilities and a clean working environment."

He urged his supporters to vote for him in order to bring the change they desire. "The long journey has just begun and it is our collective responsibility to bring the change we desire." Said Mwangi.
