In barely three months, Kenyans will go to polls. The elections are very important to the future of this country.

Wananchi will be faced with two choices to either vote for continued or change the leadership. This poll will be happening at a time when Kenya is facing a myriad of challenges. First, the hot issue of the skyrocketing cost of living.

Kenyans are unable to meet their basic needs. Second, corruption is a monster troubling most Kenyans. Both the national and county governments are deeply embroiled in mega graft. Third, devolution which was meant to ensure equal distribution of resources is yet to significantly change lives of Kenyans. Fourth, acute unemployment is choking the conscience of the youth.

Fifth, economic growth has not brought relief to the citizens. A majority of the population live below the poverty line. Sixth, environmental management is wanting. Water towers are increasingly being depleted by illegal loggers. Seven, national cohesion is also a matter of concern among the masses. The political leadership is guilty of dividing the wananchi along ethnic lines.

Therefore, the General Election presents the contenders with the opportunity to explain how they intend to deal with these issues. Who has the creative ideas of how to fix the national woes? Both the opposition and governing parties are flip-flopping on the issues.

Any of the sides which offers the best strategy will have a head start in the August polls. Can we see some creative solutions to our problems?
